Borussia Dortmund are in their 10th final of the German Under-17 championship. On Friday, Hannes Wolf’s team play at RB Leipzig for the league trophy. Kick-off is at 1800 CET.

The “Westmeister“ (Western champions), who will have all of their players available for the game with the exception of three long-term absentees, held their final training session on Thursday afternoon before travelling to Leipzig. “Leaving together and staying together creates an incredible focus for the game,” said the team’s coach Hannes Wolf who doesn’t think it’s a disadvantage RB Leipzig enjoying home field advantage in the final for the 38th German Under 17 Championship.

After all, Borussia already had to deal with this scenario in the semi-finals, and dealt with it very well. Following a 2-1 first leg defeat at home, the Black and Yellows held their nerve and stormed to a 4-1 win at Hertha BSC Berlin.

“It’s a game on equal terms, “said Wolf in the build-up, adding confidently:  “We are not the final for nothing.” BVB’s Under-17 coach was also keen to stress his respect for the opposition: “The winners from the North East knocked out the winners from the South in the semi-finals.”

According to Wolf, there’s a “real feeling of excitement” among his players ahead of the final between the two best German Under-17 teams. “My team has played a great season so far. But our journey is not over yet. We want to cap it with a trophy.”
