For the fifth time in the club’s history BVB are German B Youth Champions. Coach Hannes Wolf’s charges beat hosts RB Leipzig 2-1 (1-0) in front of 7448 spectators.

The first half belonged to the Black n Yellows with Alici fresh from scoring in both semi-finals having two good chances on 10 and 25 minutes. Shortly after the second of these chances RBL defender performed wonders to deny Alici once again. Leipzig had their first chance on 35 minutes when they hit the side netting, and five minutes later ‘keeper Reckert denied them a goal.

By then BVB were a goal up when good combination play between Passlack and Arweiler presented Sauerland with the chance to open the scoring for BVB which he duly took.

Just two minutes into the second half BVB pounced on a clumsy error to make it 2-0 with Sauerland once again the scorer.

But just four minutes later a mistake by Reckert in the BVB goal allowed Becher to make it 2-1. Some twenty minutes later he atoned for his error when he made an outstanding save to deny the Leipzig equaliser. It was all very tense in the five minutes of time added on but happily BVB emerged victorious. (br)
