Two wins, one draw – the bare facts following three games in eight days. However, coach  Jürgen Klopp was adamant, “The result is really of no imprtance. It is so much more important to identify things we can work on,” he said following the 1-1 draw in Osnabrueck.

Jürgen Klopp on the game:

“We created a wonderful chance in the first half and in the second half we continued to create chances, all of which were beautifully conceived. A 3-1 win would have been appropriate but the result is of no importance. It is so much more important to identify things we can work on.”

… on the debuts of Dong-Won Ji and Ciro Immobile:

“It was their first time in the team having trained for three days of which only twenty were with the squad. It was an ideal opportunity for them to start against a third division side with the eyes of the world on them. They both had chances to score which they failed to convert. Tomorrow is the first time they will properly join the squad so what they did today will be hard to evaluate. It was good to see them be there to have those chances.”

… on Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s solo-effort for the equaliser:

“A super goal. It would have been a stone-wall penalty had he gone down, but he stayed up and slotted the ball home.”

… on where we are in pre-season:

“A third divison side, staring their competitive campaign on Saturday are going to be pretty fit. So when it comes to fitness we were at a disadvantage but I thought we did really well despite that. That we made errors is perfectly normal at this stage. Today will have no bearing on how we play this coming season. The lads are all up for the fight. You will see some friendlies go better than others, but that is really of no importance.”
