Against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Zurich, Borussia Dortmund stormed to a 10-0 (6-0) victory at FC Raperswil in their second game of their training camp in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland. Aubameyang (2), Ji (2), Mkhitaryan, Ramos, Maruoka, Hofmann and Immobile (2) were the scorers for the Black n Yellows.

BVB debut: Matthias Ginter

The game attracted a capacity and record crowd in Rapperswil, with the 2,800 fans giving BVB a very warm welcome. They only had to wait 83 seconds for the first goal when Aubameyang found the top corner with a dropkick effort.

Borussia tested a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield in the first half, with Ji playing at the top and Mkhitaryan and Jojic on the sides of it, while Kirch occupied the holding midfield role. The Swiss side put up a courageous and fair display (apart from a foul on Ji, 29 mins.), but posed no real challenge for BVB.

After conceding the early goal, Rapperwil’s goalkeeper Yanz made a string of fine saves to prevent the Black n Yellows adding to their lead before he was beaten twice in the space of one minute.  Aubameyang made it 2-0 when he slid home a cross from Ji who scored the third a minute later knocking in a rebound from an artistic effort by Kirch (16 mins.).

Due to the one-sided nature of the contest, the debut in a black and yellow shirt of new signing Ginter, who occupied the role of Subotic in the first half, was no more of a training exercise. The shirt, by the way, looked good on him (and can be ordered here).

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang kicked off the rout.

The first half finished at 6-0 – and with the exception of Knystock, the second half saw a completely set of new BVB players, including Saar who had joined the squad late following a lengthy injury. He replaced Zimmermann who was chosen to play for BVB’s Under 23s against Wiesbaden on Tuesday. BVB changed their shape to a 4-2-3-1, but continued to keep the play almost entirely in Rapperwil’s half.

The stadium’s clock showed 15:52 minutes to play when Hofmann scored from the spot to make it 9-0, but the Black n Yellows had to wait until the 89th minute to secure their first double-digit win in five years (11-0 against a Sauerland Select on 3 July 2009) when Immobile grabbed his second with a shot from a tight angle.
