Borussia Dortmund made it six out of seven in the preseason on Wednesday night when they marched to a 3-0 (2-0) win at Polish first division side Slask Wroclaw with goals from Mkhitaryan, Immobile and Ramos. The night’s big news, however, came in the 88th minute when Jakub Blaszczykowski made a surprise comeback from injury!

Scored and created a goal: Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Borussia started with a 4-4-2 with Hofmann (left) and Mkhitaryan occupying the attacking wide areas. Immobile and the again very lively Aubameyang filled the two positions up front, with Hofmann pushing into a three-man attack when BVB switched to a 4-3-3 midway through the first half.

BVB produced some fine attacking football in opening 45 minutes and took a deserved 2-0 lead at halftime.  Following a one-two with Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan finished off an unstoppable run in the 10th minute with a shot into the far corner to put Borussia in front. The Armenian was also involved in BVB’s second goal on 20 minutes when he set up Immobile to fire home from 18 yards. Hofmann could have made it three but waited to too long to get his shoot away after good work from Aubameyang who himself was denied by the Wroclaw goalkeeper on 33 minutes.

BVB had nine shots on goal to the home side’s four while enjoying 45 percent possession in the first half. Sokratis, Kehl, Aubameyang and Immobile were replaced at halftime by Ginter, Jojic, Ramos.

The Black n Yellows could have added to their tally five minutes after the restart when Ji had two chances but saw his first shot blocked by a defender and his second from 18 yards saved well by the keeper. Romas then created and scored himself when he won the ball on the right before cutting inside, exchanging a one-two with Hofmann and clinically lashing home to make it 3-0 in the 82nd minute. The 88th minute then saw Jacub Blaszczykowski making his comeback from injury after six and a half months on the sidelines, in his home country Poland of all places!

Wroclaw also a good spell in the second half, but overall BVB dominated the game and possession (62 percent) to claim a comfortable 3-0 win. It was Borussia’s sixth win in seven preseason games – only Osnabrück have managed to hold them so far in this preseason.
