Lukasz Piszczek was able to walk to the plane on Wednesday morning but, so the midfielder, “every step hurt”. On Tuesday night, Piszczek sustained an injury to his left ankle following a rough challenge by Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, now the full extent of the injury is known: a syndesmotic ankle sprain.

The syndesmosis ligament connects the tibia and fibula. In September 2014, Henrikh Mkhitaryan suffered a similar injury, and just like the Armenian at the time, Piszczek is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.
