When the draw for the two DFB Cup semi-finals was made on live TV on Wednesday just before midnight, Jürgen Klopp had already changed the channel. “Because I knew that we would get Bayern in the draw. I didn’t need to watch the draw for that.” So the Head Coach relaxed and informed himself about the “unique characteristics of the American legal system” by watching “Law and Order”.

“Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund” – this is the eighth time this fixture has been drawn in the history of this competition. Since 2012, since the 5:2 BVB victory in the Berlin final, these two teams face each other every season. Klopp: “whoever wants to win the Cup has to beat Bayern Munich at some stage – it doesn’t matter where.”

Borussia Dortmund’s manager “thought this would be the draw and I was also really happy about it.” The fact that his team has to play away against the top favourite “does not in any way take anything away from the win against Hoffenheim.”

BVB plays at the Allianz Arena on the 28th April in the knowledge that “every time we played each other it was very tight.” According to Klopp: “in Munich, that’s cool! That will be a big event. And I don’t have the feeling that we are without a chance…”
