Fourteen Borussia players are away with their countries during the current international period. The first fixtures took place for four BVB players on Thursday evening. Austrian Marcel Sabitzer was the only one to get any game time.

The Norwegian national team, whose squad includes BVB defender Julian Ryerson, kicked off the action in Oslo on Tuesday. The friendly against their Jordanian counterparts ended in a comfortable 6-0 victory for the Scandinavians. Norway's head coach Stale Solbakken rested several of his key players for the match. Among them was Ryerson, who was an unused substitute.

Marcel Sabitzer was also on the bench to begin with in Linz. The midfielder came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute of Austria's friendly against Moldova with the scores level at 1-1. There were no further changes to the scoreline up until the final whistle.

It was down to business in EURO qualifying for the Netherlands and Donyell Malen. The attacker, who scored two times across the first three Bundesliga matchdays, did not take part in Eindhoven and watched his team claim a routine 3-0 victory over Greece. The Elftal now occupy second place in Group B behind World Cup runners-up France, with three points from two matches.

New BVB signing Ramy Bensebaini also stayed on the sidelines for the entirety of the Algerian national team's home game against Tanzania in Annaba. The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations winners dropped points for the first time in their current qualifying campaign (Group B) with a goalless draw, but Algeria had already wrapped up top spot in the group beforehand.

Two Borussia players will be in international action on Friday. Youssoufa Moukoko will represent the Germany U21s against Ukraine (18:15 CET), while Salih Özcan and Türkiye are up against Armenia (20:45 CET).
