A new round of the “Football fans in training” programme

In spring 2022, we were pleased to see the return of the training project for overweight BVB fans, "Football fans in training" (FFIT), which had been on hold since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic. A new edition of the programme is scheduled for the middle of this year, led by the BVB Foundation "leuchte auf" together with German Cancer Aid and the Institute for Therapy and Health Research (IFT Nord). All interested BVB fans are once again invited to register for the new course.

It is a free programme for overweight BVB fans. The aim is to lay the foundations for making your everyday life healthier and more active in the long term by adding more exercise and making slight changes to your diet.

A 90-minute training programme – including both theoretical and practical elements – takes place once a week over a period of three months. In the theoretical section, held at the BVB learning centre inside SIGNAL IDUNA PARK itself, we provide important information and tips on healthy eating habits. The practical part, held on the grounds of the BVB Evonik Football Academy, which is the former training ground of the BVB first team, always includes a session of football or another sport. Both the theoretical and practical sessions are led by trained instructors.

All interested BVB fans between the ages of 35 and 65 have the opportunity to register without any obligation and, with a bit of luck, can be part of the next round of FFIT. Two FFIT courses will be offered – one for men and one for women. Men with a waist circumference of at least 100 cm (around 39 inches) and women with a waist circumference of at least 88 cm (around 34 inches) can apply for a place on the programme.

The courses are expected to take place in Dortmund, starting on July 13, then every Monday for the next 13 weeks, between 19:00 and 20:30 CET. Due to the pandemic, only vaccinated BVB fans or those who have recently recovered from Covid-19 will be able to take part in the programme. Click here to register.
