Another registration opportunity for "Football Fans in Training"

Like many other sporting activities, the "light up" project "Football Fans in Training" (FFIT) has had to take a break since last year because of the corona pandemic. This was particularly unfortunate because sport in general has had to take a step back in the last year and a half especially, and the FFIT offer had enjoyed great popularity before corona.

After the original call for a new edition of the project for the end of 2021 was stopped, due to the unfortunate heavy increase in corona cases, amongst other things, we would like to examine if the starting of the course would be viable for the beginning of 2022.

FFIT is a free prevention programme for overweight BVB fans, which is tailored to the participants. Through more exercise and information on an adapted diet, the basis is created for establishing a healthier and more active lifestyle in the long term. Over a period of three months, a weekly 90-minute training programme takes places, which is divided into theoretical and practical sections. During the theoretical part, participants discuss their every-day eating behaviours in the BVB learning centre, directly in SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, and they can reassess it accordingly. As part of the practical part, there is a football training session at the BVB Evonik Football Academy's grounds - BVB's pros' former training ground. In phases, participants can get to know SIGNAL IDUNA PARK from a different perspective; for example, when they do strength and conditioning sessions in the south stand itself. Because of this, it's not just the exercise that gets BVB fans' hearts going. Both the theory and the practical exercises are led by a trained coach.

During the previous FFIT courses, each participant lost an average of around seven kilos during the twelve-week project period. In addition to the lost pounds, they were also able to enjoy new BVB friendships, some of which lasted beyond the FFIT project and culminated in playing football together in a specially founded sports club.

Together with German Cancer Aid and the Institute for Therapy and Health Research (IFT Nord), the BVB Foundation would like to contribute to reducing the risk of developing a serious (cancerous) disease due to obesity through the courses that are offered. The project started in 2018 and has since taken place four times, before all future plans had to be put on hold due to corona.

A new edition of the free offer is now being considered, in which all interested BVB fans between 35 and 65 have the opportunity to register on a non-binding registration list and, with a little luck, be part of the next FFIT group. A total of two FFIT courses will be offered, namely a men's and women's course. Men with a waist of at least 100cm, and women with a waist of at least 88cm, can register for the programme.

In all likelihood, the course will take place 13 times from 14 February in Dortmund, always on Mondays from 19:00 to 20:30 CET. Due to the ongoing pandemic, only vaccinated or recovered BVB fans can participate unfortunately. Similar to BVB's Bundesliga games, the "2G Rule" also applies to this offer. You can register now at the link to Football Fans in Training.
