Borussia Dortmund have secured the services of Sport-Union Neckarsulm's Sarah Wachter in advance of the new season. The goalkeeper has signed a deal with BVB until 30 June 2025.

Sarah Wachter gained her first taste of action in the Handball Bundesliga for TV Nellingen, before moving to league rivals Sport-Union Neckarsulm in 2019. The 23-year-old is a Germany international and has been called up by national-team coach Markus Gaugisch for the upcoming DHB selection training course.

"We are happy that we can fill the gap in the goalkeeper position with a young player who has great prospects and is already part of the national team circle," explains sporting director Andreas Kuno.

"I want to take the next step in my career and play in European competition. My discussions with the people in charge at BVB were incredibly positive. I'm also looking forward to working with Clara Woltering as goalkeeper coach," said Wachter, adding: "I want to compete to be the best team in the country, that should be our goal.''

"We wanted to get a player who knows the league very well and also has a promising future. Sarah is a perfect fit for us," said Rupert Thiele, acting head of department.
