Information

Dear BVB fans,

The demand for tickets for our club’s home and away matches is still as high as it has always been. Because we do not wish to reduce the number of loyal season ticket holders this season, it unfortunately goes without saying that there will continue to be a short supply of freely available tickets. We would therefore like you to understand that the demand for tickets will exceed the number of those available many times over.

We are well aware of the fact that many of our fans will be disappointed at not being able to get a ticket at certain points throughout the season. However, we hope you will understand that this is not attributable to a random ticket distribution policy employed by Borussia Dortmund; rather, this can be attributed to the club’s incredible sporting success. Ultimately, both BVB and its fans can take great pride in the fact that Germany’s largest football stadium is once again the most sought-after destination for football fans in the Bundesliga this season.

Following various talks held directly between those responsible at Borussia Dortmund and representatives of the fan department, fan support service and the fans themselves, we hope that we can make the advance booking methods employed as transparent as possible by issuing the following information.

One point first: We have regularly faced criticism of our ticket hotline in the past, yet an intensive examination has brought us to the conclusion that there is currently no real alternative to the procedure that has been selected. We do not believe that an Internet-based ticket drawing procedure like the one we implemented for individual matches in the 2011/2012 season is any fairer.

For your information, we would like to add that the hotline fans need to dial at the beginning of the advance sales period has up to 500 free lines. This means that 500 requests can be dealt with simultaneously – via a process that is conducted by a voice computer. At peak times such as those preceding matches against Bayern Munich and Schalke 04, however, we have previously registered up to 300,000 dialling attempts on one single day, thus explaining why the hotline is often busy.

We guarantee that as soon as one of the 500 booking transactions is completed via the hotline, that line will be made available to callers immediately. However, while the 500 lines are occupied by fans completing booking transactions, our hotline will of course be busy. We ask you to understand that there may sometimes be difficulties getting through to our hotline; these are simply attributable to the immense demand for tickets.

Lastly, we would like to take the opportunity to point out that BVB fan clubs will also receive preferential treatment in the new season. The fan support service has therefore made a binding commitment to inform fan clubs of the available ticket allocation for the respective fan club 48 hours before tickets for both home and away matches go on sale to members in the future. In addition, we reserve the right to occasionally adapt the standard advance sales methods to the current requirements for the distribution of away tickets.

The following information explains everything else you need to know.

Where can I get tickets on matchdays?

For a match that is not sold out, tickets can be purchased from the ticket offices in front of SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. They open 4.5 hours before kick-off.

I've ordered tickets - what happens next?

All ticket orders made prior to the start of the advance sale period for the match in question are collected by BVB. (We will be happy to confirm receipt of your written order by e-mail). Then comes the processing stage. If the number of tickets ordered is larger than the number of available tickets, a draw will take place.

If we are able to meet your ticket requirements, you will receive a letter of reservation from BVB. You can then choose to either pick up the tickets during our business hours (Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm) in our BVB Fan World or - if it is more convenient for you - transfer the fee. The tickets will then be sent to you by registered mail. For the latter option, a one-off postage and processing fee of €6 will be charged per booking.

When can I order tickets?

In principle, tickets for each match of the season can be requested throughout the entire season, i.e. even prior to publication of the official fixture schedule by the German Football League (DFL). Please note that requests are always non-binding and offer no guarantee of tickets being successfully obtained. In particular, the ticket requests for big games may vastly exceed the available allocation.

Written requests for tickets are processed at the start of the advance sale period (usually around four weeks before the game or earlier). If your request proved successful, you will receive confirmation of your reservation by e-mail or by post.

Can I specify a different delivery address?

Please feel free to specify a different shipping address. However, please note that we cannot deliver to PO Box addresses.

Do I need to purchase a ticket for my child?

Yes, as the electronic system for stadium access does not allow anyone to enter SIGNAL IDUNA PARK who is not in possession of a valid ticket. For reasons relating to insurance, children's tickets are issued at the clearing offices for a price of €1. These tickets are only valid for children up to and including six years of age (proof of the child's age must be presented) and do not entitle the child to a seat. Children may watch the match sitting on an adult's lap. Children are not permitted in the standing areas of the stadium.

The total revenue generated by children's tickets is donated to charity at the end of the season.

I have a reduced-price ticket but I actually need a full-price ticket!

You can pay the difference between the ticket prices at the clearing offices on matchdays. Please note that only cash payments are accepted.

Where can I get referee tickets?

You can get referee tickets on matchdays from the "North/West" referee kiosk in front of SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Tickets cannot be booked in advance or put behind for collection. Tickets can be issued once the stadium opens, currently 2.5 hours before kick-off (upon presentation of referee ID). This only applies if tickets are available. The issuing of tickets rests with the Referees' Association.

How many tickets can I order?

Up to two match tickets can be ordered for matches that are categorised as top matches, while up to four match tickets can be ordered for all other home games. The number of tickets available for purchase for away matches depends on the size of the away ticket allocation we receive from the home team. In this case, the number may vary between one and four match tickets.

Away matches

The advance sale of tickets for away matches is determined by the home club. As soon as Borussia Dortmund receives the tickets, this date is announced on the BVB website. However, as a rule of thumb, the advance sale of tickets for away matches begins four weeks prior to the game.

The available tickets are allocated based on the following distribution policy:

  • 50-60% to BVB fan clubs (incl. 400 away season tickets)
  • 20-30% to club members (via the BVB call centre)
  • 15-25% on open sale via advance ticket sales points
  • 0-5% for travel agencies, contract tickets, sponsors, employees

Tickets for away matches cannot be purchased from our Internet ticket shop.

Borussia Dortmund reserves the right to change the advance sales practices for specific matches.

Due to the scarcity of tickets, there will be no open sale for certain away matches. You can find detailed information in the Advance Sales section under "Remarks" as soon as the advance sale date has been determined.

Information

Information you should know

Our experience indicates that not every customer confirms their reservation within a 10-day deadline. This enables the club to allocate tickets to customers who were not successful in the first drawing procedure and who are then included when the new draw takes place.

That is exactly why you may only receive a definitive letter of rejection approximately 10 days prior to the match in question.

Only seat tickets are available to you for home matches. Each ticket already includes the fee for the use of public transport - 2nd class - in the VRR (Rhine and Ruhr Public Transport Association) area, meaning that it can be used as a train ticket. Long-distance trains such as IC and ICE are not included in the ticket price.

Season tickets

If you are a season ticket holder, you will be contacted at the end of each season regarding the renewal and/or change of your season ticket arrangement. If you do not wish to renew your current places for the upcoming season, you must cancel these places. Otherwise the season ticket arrangement will simply be automatically renewed for a further season.

BVB season tickets are in high demand (55,000 have been issued for the current campaign) and are always issued for an entire season. You can request to be placed on the waiting list for a BVB season ticket (subject to registration; waiting list forms in Germany, only) at any time. We will then contact you as soon as we are able to make you an offer that is in line with your requirements.

In the event that you want to transfer your season ticket allocations, please print out this declaration of assignment and follow the steps outlined therein.

If you lose your season ticket during the season, we are happy to issue you a new season ticket. We will then block the original and the new season ticket will be issued with a new bar code. We will then charge you a processing fee of €25, the full sum of which we will then pass on to our "light up" foundation at the end of each individual season. It is only possible to issue a new season ticket during our opening hours and on site. Is not possible to send out a replacement season ticket.

Exception: Replacement season tickets are not issued for standing blocks 12 and 13. Here, an alternative block is allocated to you for the remainder of the season. At the end of the season, you will receive an offer to renew your season ticket for standing blocks 12 and 13.
