| | | Watzke: "Not for all the money in the world..." | | | | [9.05.] There are currently a lot of transfer rumours knocking around about the German champions. On Wednesday they were dismissed by Hans-Joachim Watzke. "Not for all the money in the world could another club tempt us to sell one of our players," the BVB chairman stressed in a statement. | | | | | Clear statement: Hans-Joachim Watzke [firo] | It is a different story in the case of Shinji Kagawa. The Japanese midfielder has so far refused to extend his contract which expires in 2013, which is why BVB will "keep their options open", according to sports director Michael Zorcy. All other players, however, have long-term contracts, and offers will be turned down.
"With the other ones there is nothing that needs to be negotiated," said Watzke. Robert Lewandowski (contracted until 2014) and Lukasz Piszczek (contracted until 2016), for example, have been linked with a number of clubs, but Watzke told those clubs: "We will not listen to any offer for players who are contracted to us until 2014 or beyond. We have no intention of becoming a bank."
