From 11 to 17 March, a total of 70 youngsters, coaches and parents from the Black & Yellow outposts in North America visited us in Dortmund. A varied sporting and cultural programme awaited the selected School of Excellence (SoE) players on what proved to be a memorable trip.

The 17 boys and 19 girls from the 2006-2009 age group were selected by BVB coaches in December 2023 on the basis of their sporting performance and commitment off the pitch. They were chosen from a total of 270 players.

You can find all the background information on talent identification and the SoE talent development programme here.

While in Dortmund, they trained up to twice a day, underwent talent diagnostics and played friendly matches against BVB teams. While the SoE boys competed against a selection of U15 and U16 players from the youth training centre, the girls played against a mixed team of BVB women, the second team and the U17 girls.

In addition to the stadium tour and the visit to the BORUSSEUM, a trip to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK to watch the Bundesliga match between BVB and Eintracht Frankfurt was another highlight.
