Marco Reus is having - like the whole Borussia Dortmund team - an outstanding season. In Friday´s 6-1 win over VfB Stuttgart he scored his ninth goal in 17 (competitive) matches, a career-high at this stage of a campaign. He has also created eight goals for teammates this season, meaning he has been involved in more than a third of BVB´s goals (46)!

What´s your view on Friday´s game against Stuttgart?
Stuttgart´s opener was a wake-up call as we had been a bit unfocused before. After the goal we found our rhythm as well as a way into the game.

You scored the second BVB goal, and set up the third with a back-heel. You have had a hand in 17 goals so far this season. How do you explain your good form?
"I´m in good form but so is the rest of the team! I try to give everything in every game to help the team. And currently this is working out just fine.

BVB have never had as many points after 11 league games. Was this superb start to be expected?
Because we work very hard, because we have a very strong team and because we follow the instructions of the coach - we know that we need to play some very good counter-pressing football to be successful.

“Against Arsenal we will not get as many chances as against Stuttgart.”

The team works hard, but the schedule is also hard, even if BVB are currently "only" playing a game every five days. Just how tough is it to have three games within a week?
We worked hard on our fitness in preseason to be prepared for these purposes. But, of course, games that involve a lot of running as the ones against Stuttgart or Arsenal take a lot of energy from us. But we also have a good squad where anyone can replace anyone else and where it´s possible to get a rest, as in my case on Friday when I was able to come off half an hour earlier.

What´s the goal for the second game against Arsenal?
We go into every game to win it. But of course it´s going to be very difficult. Arsenal are strong in every position. But they will not want to sit back which could give us some space, though we will not get as many chances as against Stuttgart.
