Speaking in a post-match interview, BVB shot-stopper Roman Bürki was among those not satisfied with the match against Schalke. "Our objective is always to win," said the Swiss, who nevertheless remained upbeat: "We need to see the positives: we kept a clean sheet."

Roman, what was your take on the match?
We didn't have a single shot in the first 45 minutes. We had obviously hoped to do much better than that in front of our own fans and wanted to give them something to cheer about. Unfortunately we didn't manage that.

Why not?
We were not able to find the offensive solutions and it was not until the second period that we created two major chances. Otherwise we didn't achieve much offensively. Defensively, I'm happy that we kept another clean sheet.

"We're naturally disappointed that we didn't win.

Could that be attributed to nervousness or uncertainty?
We had a few young players and a few players who were making their first derby appearance. I don't know how they felt. For my part, I simply tried to approach this game in the same way I would any other – even though that's not really possible. Compared to "normal" games, you can sense a difference on derby day. That spurred us on. So there wasn't really any uncertainty. We tried everything and didn't perform poorly – but by the same token, we didn't produce what we're used to.

Did Schalke have a bit more bite than you in the first half?
I sort of had that impression watching from the back. Schalke were sometimes very tough into the tackle and really set the tone. We were missing that a bit. After the break it was much better. Nevertheless, we're naturally disappointed that we didn't win.

"We need to see the positives: we kept a clean sheet"

What does the result mean for your upcoming fixtures?
As I said, we kept a clean sheet. That is the positive we need to take from the game. We'll analyse the rest. I hope that some of the players we currently have injured are fit again soon. Then we'll have more options at our disposal again.

You've now slid down to mid-table in the Bundesliga…
It's not a crisis. Our team is young and we have a lot of players out injured. We try to get points on the board in each match, our objective is always to win. We'll come out the other side. (djg)
