The final event of the DFB ePokal took place last weekend and was played on the campus of the DFB (German Football Association) in Frankfurt. A total prize pool of €100,000 was up for grabs with 500 spectators there to follow the action.

Borussia Dortmund progressed to the quarter-finals of this year's ePokal with ease, having already played FSV Waldangelloch, SV Blau-Weiß Salzhemmendorf and 1 FC Kaiserslautern. On Friday, they faced Holstein Kiel in the quarter-finals and thanks to victories by Roee Feldman and Lucas Geerken, BVB won 2-0 and secured their place in the semi-finals. Their opponents in the draw were VfB Stuttgart.

Saturday was a true spectacle: after Feldman's win, Dennis Malcherczyk had the chance to fire the Black & Yellows into the final, but he lost to former VBL singles champion Antonio Radelja in a game full of huge chances for both sides. However, Feldman kept his cool in the deciding game and brought BVB one step closer to the title - a place in the final in their first cup season was secured.

Leipzig, the clear favourites, defeated Werder Bremen in the earlier semi-final, meaning the final pitted Borussia Dortmund against Leipzig. BVB took the lead in the first game, but Feldman ultimately lost 2-1 to former world champion Umut Gültekin in a thrilling match. Borussia also lost the crucial match between Anders Vejrgang (Leipzig) and Bradley Destoop (BVB), meaning that Leipzig deservedly defended their title. By reaching the final, BVB secured prize money of €20,000.
