This man travels for miles and miles and has Borussia Dortmund's most important cargo on board: the team. We are talking about our bus driver Christian Schulz. "Schulle" has been driving the Borussia first team around for more than 09 years, be it to Freiburg, Lotte or Donetsk. The master of the steering wheel always brings our boys to the desired destination.

Let us take you on a black and yellow (bus) trip. In the latest episode of our BVB podcast, the 49-year-old talks about his life at the wheel, extraordinary away trips and even a little breakdown or two. But "Schulle" always manages to cope with even the tricky situations in a calm manner, because it takes a lot to make him sweat.

His record is more than 70,000 km of driving the team bus in a year. In 2001, Schulz started as the bus driver of the U23s at BVB. For ten years, he drove Borussia's second team, as well as the handball ladies and the U19s. In 2011, he was finally promoted to the bus driver of the first team by the coach at the time, Jürgen Klopp. "I started during the season. After that, we didn't lose another game and won the league and cup," he recalls. "The biggest party we ever had on the bus was after the 2012 DFB Cup victory."

Taking the bus abroad is the highlight of the season for Schulz: "Everyone knows the BVB logo – people stare and take photos." On European trips, the bus driver has to drive the route to the stadium several times to familiarise himself with obstacles such as low bridges or narrow roads: "You prepare very meticulously."

The current situation is new even for the long-time bus driver – and not only because the team, coaches and staff are currently being brought to the games in two buses. "When we drive through the Strobelallee, it looks like nothing is happening. Normally, there are 5000 fans there, singing and clapping. It's an adrenaline rush for the players and for me. I miss that: the emotions, the fans," says Schulz.
