It was a game of two halves: Bayern Munich had almost all of the shots in the opening period (6-1), while it was Borussia Dortmund who had more after the break (10-3). BVB covered 125.5 kilometres − compared to FCB's 123.2 − and won 59 percent of the challenges. There were 1,480 intensive runs and 525 sprints in the match, but only 12 fouls (BVB 4, FCB 8). Here we bring you the match facts.

Strong spirit: BVB claimed their fourth win of the Bundesliga season from a losing position − and their second after being behind twice in a match. That means the Black & Yellows have the most come-from-behind wins in the division.

Unbeaten: It is only the second time in their Bundesliga history that Borussia Dortmund are unbeaten after 11 matches. The last time was under Matthias Sammer in 2002/03, when they finished in third place.

Comfortable cushion: The Black & Yellows have a seven-point lead over Bayern Munich for the first time since the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

Goals glut: Only once previously have Borussia Dortmund scored 33 goals in their opening 11 games − that was 55 years ago in 1963/64 (36 goals).

Crunch time: 22 of the 33 goals this season have come in the second half. BVB turned half-time deficits into wins against both Augsburg and Leverkusen, while in Hoffenheim they came from a goal down at the break to draw 1-1.

On fire: Marco Reus scored his seventh and eighth goals of the Bundesliga season. That means he already has more goals than he did in the entirety of the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons (seven each). The captain had more shots than any other player (six of Dortmund's 11 shots) and grabbed his first-ever Bundesliga brace against Bayern.

On fire II: Paco Alcácer has taken only 218 minutes to score eight Bundesliga goals, beating the previous record – held by Charly Dörfel, who needed 519 minutes to reach that mark for HSV in 1963 – by some distance. He converted his only shot of the game against Bayern. The Spaniard has scored on each of his four substitute appearances for BVB and has seven substitute goals in total.

Starting XI: Julian Weigl made only his second Bundesliga start of the season, having previously started the 4-3 win over Augsburg.

Change in goal: Roman Bürki sat on the bench for the DFB Cup win over Union Berlin (3-2 AET) − and today an injury forced him to miss his first Bundesliga match since 25 November 2017 (4-4 draw with Schalke). He was replaced between the sticks by Marwin Hitz, who was making his first Bundesliga appearance for Borussia Dortmund. It was the third time the Swiss custodian has been part of a side that has beaten Bayern. (tl)
