After a month's break due to the European Championships, Borussia Dortmund's women's handball team will start the next phase of the season on Sunday (27 November). The match against TuS Metzingen will take place in Hamm (16:00 CET start). It will also be the debut game for the new head coach, Henk Groener.

"I'm looking forward to the game. It's nice to work with a team every day again," says the Dutchman, who most recently worked in the international game and is coaching a club team for the first time in 15 years. "Our training was of course limited in what we could do," he said, noting that five players have been in action at the European Championships, before adding: "But we worked well in the small groups and individually. Now we have to see how it all comes together."

The European Championship participants Alina Grijseels, Lisa Antl, Yara ten Holte and Zoë Sprengers have also been back in training in Dortmund for a few days. Harma van Kreij unfortunately returned from the European Championships with a knee injury and will not be able to play again this year. "You can definitely see that they are still tired. But after a week's break, they are really keen to play handball again," Groener reveals.

He sees the opponents from Metzingen as much stronger than their current ninth place and 4:6 points would suggest. "They have a good squad and have played below their level so far. They are good on the flanks, plus they have quality players like Lena Degenhardt and Maren Weigel," he said, cautioning his team not to underestimate their opponents. The BVB head coach sees Metzingen as well-stocked in all positions: "They play fast overall, and their structured attacks are carried out at breakneck speed."

The big game will be played at the Westpress-Arena in Hamm. Tickets can be purchased in the Online-Ticketshop or at the box office. The DSW21 handball bus will be running a shuttle service to Hamm for all BVB fans. The game will also be broadcast live on
