Tonight was the 45th time that Lukasz Piszczek has walked on the pitch for BVB in the UEFA Champions League, thus allowing the Vice Captain to snatch the record from previous recordholder, Stefan Reuter. However, the match against Brugge was no such fairytale from the book of One Thousand and One "Passes".

Knock out round: Borussia Dortmund has advanced out of the Champions League group stage for the ninth time. Since 2012, the club has made it out of the group and into the round of 16, five out of six times.

Stability: BVB maintained a clean sheet in four out of five of their group games which meant that the Black & Yellows topped their previous record of three games without conceding, achieved during the seasons of 1997/98 and 2014/15.

Mismatch: In the home game against Club Bruges, Borussia were clearly the better side. The statisticians counted 12:5 shots on goal, 74 per cent ball possession and a pass rate of 93 per cent.

Four figures: The Borussians played exactly 1001 passes but it was far from a tale from "One Thousand and One (Football) Nights" because the "Killer Pass" was not present.

Record holders: With 45 caps, Lukasz Piszczek has the most UEFA Champions League games under his belt out of any BVB player in history. The previous record holder was Stefan Reuter who featured in 44 Champions League games from 1995 to 2003. Reuter wore the black and yellow shirt in a total of 85 European Cup games, compared to Piszczek's 67 international caps.
