Borussia Dortmund have extended the contracts with two of their most talented players. Nuri Sahin, whose initial contract lasted until June 2010, signed for another three years until 30 June 2013 and Neven Subotic even commits himself to BVB until 2014.

"We have of course noticed that Neven is in the focus of Europe´s biggest leagues and we wanted to set an example by tying him to the club," said sports director Michael Zorc about 20-year-old defender Neven Subotic, whose contract was extended for another year until 30 June 2014 on an improved salary. "We have carried out a certain salary hygiene and will pay him adequately." Subotic established himself as a regular right from the start and of BVB´s 3.060 Bundesliga minutes last season he only missed 90 due to suspension.

Nuri Sahin, who´s been with Borussia Dortmund since the age of 11 - with the exception of a brief one-year-spell at Feyenoord - also wants to commit himself to BVB for the future. "RSV Meinerzhagen and Borussia Dortmund are the clubs of my heart," said the Turkish international on Sunday after he - for many people surprisingly - returned early to training. Sahin didn´t apply for "special leave" that was granted to BVB´s international players. "The coach told me that I had enough vacation in the first half of the season. I´m young. I don´t need five weeks off." Instead the sought-after midfielder ("I had a couple of requests from Turkish clubs") agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the club until 2013.
