Julian Weigl put in yet another hard-working performance, covering 11.8 kilometres in total. After the game, he gave an interview with pay-TV broadcaster Sky in which he spoke about the Augsburg match.

Julian Weigl on the home win against Augsburg:
"It's an awesome feeling. We couldn't have made a better start. Even though the opening two minutes did not quite go as we'd hoped, we still kept our cool and then showed our quality. I think we can be very satisfied and we need to continue in exactly the same vein."

…on the incredible attacking power:
"I think we can have high expectations. It's not just about the lads who played today; we also have lots of others waiting in the wings who can inject momentum. I'm really delighted for Julian Brandt, who got a goal on his debut today. We have immense quality there and if we defend well as a team and win the ball back quickly, we're obviously always extremely dangerous."

…on the table situation:
"We were obviously aware of the fact that Bayern had drawn. That gave us even more of an incentive to make an immediate statement. I think we did that very well today. We can be courageous and pursue our objectives in an attacking style. We have a good squad, we're a wonderful club, and I think that if we go into the season with the goals that have been mentioned, that will do everyone good."

…on the partnership with Mats Hummels:
"It's going very well. I already know him from the time when I first arrived here. He performed very well today, he's a class player. The fans gave him a good welcome, so all in all it was a successful day at the office."
