"We will keep trying to put a stop to the things that are responsible for us losing a game," said Edin Terzic. "We have to change a few things so that we win games," said Manuel Akanji. Emre Can added: "Let's not bicker and stay positive." The match reactions.

Edin Terzic: "We're obviously disappointed and angry about how the game went. We again made mistakes that shouldn't have happened. We simply require more from all of us in order to be successful. We had a lot of space to play in and we linked up well a few times. But there were a lot of passing errors at both ends that you simply can't afford. We have to work hard, stay positive – and we have to be ready to run the extra metre. And not just when we're 2-0 down. We will keep trying to put a stop to the things that are responsible for us losing a game. It's a case of finding solutions. That's what we will do starting tomorrow. Today we are angry and disappointed."

Manuel Akanji: "We started the second half badly. We made a mistake in the lead-up to both goals. It's obviously difficult to come back after conceding two goals. Yes, we tried to do that in the final minutes. We did get one goal. But it's not easy to come back from a two-goal deficit. In the first half, we didn't create enough clear-cut chances. Defensively, we did reasonably well. As long as a game is 0-0, it can always go either way. It was actually pretty even today. Freiburg took their chance and then got another directly afterwards. Sometimes we just have to be a bit more straightforward, also when we see how our opponents score goals. With every point we drop, it gets even harder. That was not up to our standard today. We have to change a few things so that we win games. We now have a week to address what we did well and not so well in training and in the video analysis. We have to combine those and then show a reaction next weekend."

Emre Can: "We want to win every match. But we always lose games in a similar manner. It wasn't actually a bad performance from us. We gave away little. If the rub of the green goes our way a bit, then we might be able to win games like this one. Both teams actually gave away little today, but they managed to score with two shots from distance. Unfortunately, we lost in the end. We need to keep going, not bicker and stay positive. Now we simply need to try to win every match. I can't imagine Borussia Dortmund not being represented on the international stage. We're all responsible for that. We still have the chance. But now we really do need to flip the switch quite urgently."
