A victory that was hard-fought rather than glamorous. Michael Zorc, Marco Rose, Marco Reus and Mats Hummels all drew similar conclusions. The match reactions.

Michael Zorc: "That'll do us good. It wasn't a spectacle today and it certainly wasn't a footballing highlight. We deserved to win the match and didn't really give away anything to our opponent. In the end we saw it through nicely. I'm satisfied, because it was all about getting the three points. We managed that, and now we're top of the group alongside Ajax. The team put in a good performance and even scored three offside goals. Thanks to our good counter-pressing and a good defensive performance, we didn't allow the opponent a chance."

Marco Rose: "It was a cold start for Jule, that wasn't our plan. All in all, they were a well organised opponent. We didn't make enough runs in behind in the first half. But we worked well off the ball. My team performed solidly without shining. Donyell scored his first goal, I'm really delighted about that. We kept a clean sheet for the first time since Wiesbaden. That's an important factor. We dug in and worked for each other. The boys did a very good job today."

Marco Reus: "It felt very difficult. We didn't produce our best performance. We absolutely wanted to win and have now picked up six points. The match was so important, I obviously wanted to be involved. We showed a good attitude and worked well off the ball. We're satisfied for today and will now switch our focus to the weekend."

Mats Hummels: "It was a tough job. That makes us all the happier that we embraced it the way we did. It wasn't all perfect, we made some mistakes. But we gave it everything we had, and if you do that you can sometimes get a 1-0 win without shining. It was a very serious display from us today."
