Marco Rose spoke to journalists at his post-match press conference. The head coach even admitted that he didn't name a penalty taker after Erling Haaland was ruled out...

Marco Rose on the game:
Augsburg demanded everything of us. We had to constantly watch out for counter-attacks. We were on the right track after going 1-0 up. The equaliser then deflated us a bit. The team then reacted well and kept their patience. We had several opportunities to put the game to bed after going 2-1 up. I'm happy overall with the performance. It was a very good, very intense Bundesliga match from both teams. We can now take a breather during the international break.

...on winning goalscorer Julian Brandt:
He played well and scored a good goal. Jule can always be counted on for moments like that. He offered a lot to our play and worked hard without the ball.

...on penalty scorer Raphael Guerreiro:
When the penalty was awarded, I turned around and realised that we hadn't discussed it. I have good lads out there who want to take on responsibility.

...Mats Hummels being substituted off:
He had some problems moving a muscle and he didn't feel good out there. That's why we thought it better to take him off. Mats put in a lot of good challenges against a physically strong opposition. You can't forget that had no preparation for today. Today it was good for us to bring in fresh legs at the back. It gives us confidence knowing that we have such a strong bench.

...on the injuries to Thomas Meunier and Marius Wolf:
I don't know what's happened with Marius. It's something with his ankle. And Thomas has had an open wound on his knee for a few games, and you have to be careful that it doesn't get infected. He also has a swollen toe. These are things that you don't notice from the outside. He fought through it, but at some point it was over for him, too.
