The German Football League has announced that Borussia Dortmund's away game at Mainz 05, which was originally scheduled for Sunday (6 March) has been postponed. The new date for the game is Wednesday 16 March (18:30 CET).

The side from Mainz do not have the minimum number of players required according to the DFL regulations as several have had to self-isolate due to positive Covid-19 tests.

Sebastian Kehl, head of BVB's licensed player department, had this to say about the postponement: "It is a pity, of course, that the game cannot take place as planned. We were looking forward to the match with our friends in Mainz in front of a full house. Ultimately, however, fair competition must be guaranteed, based on the rules that we have set ourselves as a league. This fair competition would not have been guaranteed in this case, and therefore the postponement of the game is understandable and correct. Of course, health always takes priority. We hope that everyone affected in Mainz has as mild an infection as possible and an early recovery. Our focus is now on our home game against Arminia Bielefeld on 13 March. The match in Mainz will now be played on 16 March. We had told the DFL that this date was very inconvenient for us because of the home match of our U19s against Atletico Madrid, but we were told that no other date would be considered."
