The Black & Yellow academy teams picked up a total of four points on the first day of the youth Bundesliga West. The U17s drew 2-2 with Arminia Bielefeld, while the U19s won 3-0 away to RW Oberhausen.

With just 90 seconds on the clock the U17s already found themselves 2-0 down on the scoreboard. Coach Sebastian Geppert's team needed some time to find their feet. Goals from Rafael Lubach and Charles Herrmann meant BVB were able to draw level, but try as they might they couldn't find a winner.

It was a better day for our U19s, who won 3-0 away to RW Oberhausen thanks to a hat-trick from Abu-Bekir El Zein. A perfect way to start the season for coach Mike Tullberg's side.
