Two days before the start of the 3. Liga season, Borussia Dortmund's U23s have unveiled another new signing: Jermain Nischalke. The 20-year-old striker has joined on a one-year loan from 1. FC Nürnberg.

The Berlin native came through the ranks at Hertha Zehlendorf and Union Berlin before joining the Franconian club's reserve team last summer. Nischalke made 30 appearances in the Regionalliga Bayern last season, scoring 18 goals in the process. The striker signed a professional contract with 1. FC Nürnberg in December 2022. He made three appearances for the first team in the 2. Bundesliga last term. BVB are signing the 1.93m-tall attacking player on loan for one year and have agreed a purchase option with the "Club".

"We're delighted that we were able to complete the transfer at such short notice. We've already been monitoring Jermain for quite a while, are convinced of his qualities and feel confident that he can help us," said Ingo Preuß, the Borussia Dortmund U23s' sporting director.
