BVB claimed a 3-1 victory against Ajax and thus celebrated a successful final rehearsal ahead of the first competitive game. Coach Edin Terzic praised the new signings and Emre Can was full of pride in his first appearance at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK as captain.

Edin Terzic: "It was a really great game. We had many chances to score and took an early lead. The quick goal we conceded was frustrating. But we saw not only a nice game, but a great atmosphere too. We want to improve, you could see that from game to game in pre-season. The lads are pulling along and trying to implement things. The new signings have integrated well and had some really good actions. Felix Nmecha performed outstandingly today and was involved in a great many attacking moves. We see the potential for him to become important for us in goalscoring areas. He showed that today too."

Emre Can: "We played a very good game and moved the ball around. We showed what we can do – especially with the ball – against a top team. If we play football like that, we can have a very successful season. All three new signings performed incredibly. I'm unbelievably proud to wear this armband. Prior to the game, I asked Marco Reus what it feel likes to run out with it. And I have to say that it was immense. I came in with my chest swelling with pride." (cr)
