EURO 2020: When are the BVB players in action?
The European Championships will kick off this Friday, a year after they were supposed to take place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ten Borussia Dortmund players will be taking part in the tournament, with five of them starting their group campaigns on Saturday. On Sunday, an 11th BVB player was called up to take part in the tournament: goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was a late addition to the Switzerland squad.
UEFA EURO 2020 – as it is still officially being called this year – will take place across 10 European cities and one Asian city between 11 June and 11 July. The reigning champions are Portugal, who won the last edition of the tournament with BVB player Raphael Guerreiro five years ago. The left-back is in the squad once again this time around. He will go up against German team-mates Mats Hummels and Emre Can in Group F. There will be another meeting between Borussia Dortmund players in Group B as Thomas Delaney's Denmark take on a Belgium side including Thorgan Hazard, Thomas Meunier and Axel Witsel. The two Englishmen Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, plus Switzerland's Manuel Akanji, will be taking part in the finals too. Gregor Kobel was also called up to join the Switzerland squad on Sunday.
