Cloudy, overcast skies greeted the BVB players on their first training day of the 2016/17 season, after yesterday kicked off with their “Performance Diagnostics” review. Thomas Tuchel was able to start working with 16 players.

U23 player Marco Hober as well as U19 players Dzenis Burnic and Jacob Bruun Larsen currently make-up the squad, as aside from those at the European Championships, Shinji Kagawa was also missing, who played in Japan’s internationals in June and will therefore return to BVB a week on Monday, as well as Marco Reus and Adrian Ramos who had a slight bug. Joo-Ho Park was also not at training, as he was doing some individual work inside the training centre.

After just about 90 minutes Tuchel ended the first session of the day, in which two of the six new additions – Ousmane Dembelé and Sebastian Rode – were able to get an impression of the new hybrid turf which is not only laid down at the Signal Iduna Park, but also on the pitches at Brackel. (br)
