Following a fast and furious opening phase it ended up being a relatively routine, but nonetheless important victory for the Black and Yellows against their visitors from Frankfurt. The hosts had more shots (15-9), more possession (65 percent) and a better tackle win rate (65 percent) as they picked up a deserved three points.

Improved second half of the season: Borussia Dortmund have picked up more wins in their 13 Bundesliga matches in 2017 (eight) than they did in the 16 games before the winter break (seven). Only Bayern (26) have picked up more points than BVB (23) since the turn of the year.

Outstanding home run: Borussia Dortmund are now unbeaten in 35 Bundesliga home games. There have only been four longer such runs in top-flight history, the last of which was accomplished by Werder Bremen when they went 43 home games unbeaten between August 1984 and February 1987. BVB have won all six of their home games in 2017.

Unbeaten when Reus nets: BVB have not lost a single one of the matches in which Marco Reus has scored this term (14 wins, four draws).

Early breakthrough: Marco Reus' opener with just 120 seconds on the clock was BVB's quickest goal since 20 April 2013, when Reus was on target after 33 seconds in a 2-0 victory over Mainz.

Quick starters: The Black and Yellows have more goals in the first 15 minutes of matches (14) than any other club.

Favourite foes: BVB have more Bundesliga victories over Eintracht Frankfurt (42) than they do against any other side.

Shooting boots on: Borussia Dortmund did not score a single long-range goal in the first 26 matches of the season. They have since followed that up with three in three games (Castro against Hamburg, Guerreiro in Munich and Sokratis today).

Double first: Sokratis' goal today was his first for BVB in the Bundesliga with his feet. He had previously scored four headers for the club. His last goal with his feet came for Werder Bremen in January 2013. In addition, it is the first time Sokratis has scored two goals in a Bundesliga campaign. He had previously scored exactly one per season.

Assist king: Ousmane Dembélé has now set up ten goals in the league alone, eight of which have been for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. In all competitions the Frenchman now has 17 assists, as well as eight goals.

Neck and neck: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now drawn level with Robert Lewandowski at the top of the goalscoring charts on 26 goals. The Pole will miss Matchday 29 through suspension. The last BVB player to have 26 goals after 29 matches was Manfred Burgsmüller in the 1980/81 season.

First inclusion: Alexander Isak was included in the squad for the first time. The 17-year-old has only played four minutes for BVB since joining (against Lotte in the DFB Cup). (br)
