After the game against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League, manager Peter Bosz, Mario Götze and Gonzalo Castro spoke to sky about BVB's performance. "Individual mistakes of that kind can simply not be allowed to happen at the level we are playing at", said Bosz, who added immediately after: "We have to win the derby now." Mario Götze seemed somewhat perplexed: "If we had known what would happen once again today after the score had been levelled at 1-1, then we would have played with a bit more guile." The reaction.

Peter Bosz: "After it had gone to 1-1, you could see that my players were simply lacking the confidence to carry on. We played well in the first half, defended compactly, and created chances for ourselves. We didn't do that any more after the equaliser. The goal we conceded came about due to a mistake we made ourselves. After that, we did not play good football anymore, and we need to be honest about that. Individual mistakes of that kind can simply not be allowed to happen at the level we are playing at. We were simply lacking confidence. If you don't win for a long time, that's logical. For that reason, I was actually very proud after the first half, but after the score went to 1-1, you could see how low we are on confidence. We have to win the derby now. We simply have to win."

Mario Götze: "If we had known what would happen once again today after the score had been levelled at 1-1, then we would have played with a bit more guile. But honestly speaking, I can't really explain what's going on right now. The first half was good, we led 1-0. Then we conceded the equaliser quite soon after the break, as we had done against Stuttgart. We have simply got to defend better as a team and all of us need to take responsibility for that. Something like that cannot be allowed to happen every three days."

"The pressure going into the derby is great"

Gonzalo Castro: "You can see that we're in need of a lift. We fell apart after the score was equalised at 1-1, and did not create any more chances on goal. Everything that has happened to us was preying on our minds in that moment. The last few weeks have left their mark on us, and so conceding the equaliser for 1-1 was a blow for us. If we knew what was wrong, we would have sorted it out ages ago. The pressure going into the derby is of course great, but if we win the match against Schalke, then the pain of the last few weeks will quickly evaporate." (djg)
