Borussia Dortmund's U19s laid down a marker in the Bundesliga West at the beginning of the second half of the season by defeating the hitherto insuperable VfL Bochum 3-2.

Coach Benjamin Hoffmann's boys reduced VfL's lead in the table to four points, and so preserved their chance of qualifying for the final to win the German championship.

In a dramatic and hard-fought "mini-derby", which only ended after 98 minutes had been played in total, Borussia Dortmund turned the game around after having trailed 0-1 at halftime. A goal from Robin Kehr and a brace from Luca Kilian gave them a 3-1 lead, before Ulrich Bapoh made for an intensive final phase of the match by scoring in the 76' minute to take proceedings to 2-3. BVB will host SC Paderborn this coming Saturday (11:00 CET),

The as yet unbeaten U17s begin as autumn champions tomorrow on Sunday (3 December) with a home match against SG Unterrath (11:00 CET, artificial pitch, Youth Development Centre Brackel) going into the second half of the season. (wiwi)
