After Schalke had grabbed a 62nd minute consolation, the Black & Yellows spurned further chances to extend their lead. "It was a really good and compact team performance," beamed coach Benjamin Hoffmann.

The win was the fourth in four games for Borussia Dortmund's U19s, who will be looking to continue their perfect record at the weekend when they visit Tennis Borussia Berlin in the DFB Cup First Round.

The Black & Yellow U17s recorded a derby victory of their own on Saturday, beating Schalke 04 by a 2-0 scoreline. (wiwi)
