By beating 1. FC Nuremberg 7-0, Borussia Dortmund secured their biggest Bundesliga win in over three decades. On 26 September 1986, 32 years earlier to the day, the Black & Yellows beat Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin by the same scoreline.

Landmarks galore: Marco Reus' strike to put BVB 4-0 ahead was his 100th competitive goal for the club. He was also substituted for the 100th time in his Bundesliga career, becoming the 17th player in history to reach this landmark. It was the 17th time in his Bundesliga career that Reus has scored (at least) twice and the first time in almost two years (December 2016) that he has amassed three scorer points in one game.

Team effort: Three Black & Yellows − Jacob Bruun Larsen, Achraf Hakimi and Manuel Akanji − scored their first Bundesliga goal, while Jadon Sancho and Julian Weigl both netted for the first time this season. That means that after only five league matches this term there have already been 12 different Dortmund goalscorers.

Still unbeaten: BVB are unbeaten in each of their seven competitive matches this season. It was their third home win in as many matches.

Serial offenders: It was the eighth consecutive home game against Nuremberg in which BVB have kept a clean sheet.

First-timers: Jacob Bruun Larsen and Achraf Hakimi both scored with their first-ever shot on goal in the Bundesliga.

Early goal: The opener in the 09th minute was Borussia Dortmund's earliest goal this season in all competitions.

Youth aplenty: The Black & Yellows lined up with their youngest starting XI in 1.5 years. The average age was 24.7 years.

New back four: BVB had played with the same back four in each of their previous competitive matches, but this time there were changes. The suspended Diallo made way for Dan-Axel Zagadou, who made his first Bundesliga appearance in 2018. Lukasz Piszczek was dropped to the bench, allowing Achraf Hakimi to make his competitive bow for BVB.

Rotation: There were five changes to the XI that started the previous game − more than at any other time under Lucien Favre.

Record defeat: Nuremberg equalled their record defeat in the Bundesliga, having also lost by a 7-0 scoreline at VfB Stuttgart in November 1983.
