Borussia Dortmund face a Ligue 1 club for the tenth time in European competition and play AS Monaco for the second time. Here we present you with the facts about the match to be played on Wednesday evening (kick-off 21:00 CET) in the Signal Iduna Park.

Facts on Borussia Dortmund

A good run
After placing fourth in the Bundesliga last year, Borussia Dortmund is the only club in Germany's top division which is as yet undefeated. Lucien Favre's team are on a run of eight matches unbeaten across all competitions (six wins, two draws), and vanquished FC Brugge 1-0 on the opening matchday of the Champions League.

In the black at home
Borussia Dortmund's home record against French clubs reads: four wins, three draws and two losses. Nevertheless, of the previous seven home matches, only two could be won. On 1 October 2013, Olympique Marseille were beaten 3-0, while there was a 2-1 win over AJ Auxerre on 25 September 2002. The most spectacular match of the nine fixtures against French clubs to date was the UEFA Cup semi-final against Auxerre in 1993. After a 2-0 win in the first leg (goals: Steffen Karl and Michael Zorc), the return leg went to a penalty shootout which BVB won 6-5.

Facts on AS Monaco

A bad run
France's runners-up from last season have not emerged well from the starting blocks. After winning their first league match 3-1 against Nantes in August, they have not recorded a win in eight matches across all competitions since, drawing three and losing five. One of those losses was the 1-2 defeat to Atlético Madrid on matchday 1 of the UEFA Champions League. Since their defeat of Borussia Dortmund in April 2017 and their progression to the semi-final as a result, there have been two draws and seven defeats at European level.

Happy hunting in Germany
Last season, Les Monégasques earned themselves a 1-1 draw in Leipzig. Monaco have only returned home empty-handed once in their last eight away matches in Germany (4 wins, 3 draws). (br)
