Kobel the key man for hard-running FCA
On a rainy evening in Bavaria, Augsburg's hard-running approach earned them a win. Never before have FCA covered 127.3 kilometres in a Bundesliga game. Custodian Gregor Kobel saved eight of Dortmund's nine shots. While BVB had the superior stats – 68 percent possession, only 10 percent of passes misplaced and more shots (18-9) – they could only manage one goal. Here are the match facts.
Drought over: Paco Alcácer found the net for the first time in 2019 with his 11th substitute goal of the season, extending the record and ending a 390-minute drought in front of goal.
Fantastic form: Mario Götze claimed his fifth assist of the campaign tonight. Only as a Bayern player in the 2013/14 season has he previously set up more goals (11).
Leading by example: Marco Reus had the highest tackle win rate of any player on the pitch up until his substitution (77 percent).
First start of the year: Jakob Bruun Larsen started a match for the first time this calendar year. The last time the Dane made the starting XI was in the 2-1 defeat in Düsseldorf on Matchday 16 in mid-November.
Run over: Borussia Dortmund suffered their first away defeat against FC Augsburg at the eighth time of asking.
