For Marco Reus, it was "a good test, my first full 90 minutes". Lucien Favre deemed the display in St. Gallen to be "okay", then spoke about personnel matters and explained Julian Brandt would miss the Super Cup.

Lucien Favre: "We played well in the first period. In the second half, St. Gallen brought on a lot of fresh legs who attacked with gusto. That wasn't without its dangers for us. They had three or four good goalscoring chances at that point. Overall, we had more ball possession and dominated the match. It was okay. It was good the opposition tested us. Regarding Roman Bürki, we're not sure how long he'll be out. He has a cut on his shin. Thorgan Hazard is doing better. He's returned to running but he's still feeling something. We don't want to take any risks. Julian Brandt will definitely miss out on Saturday. He can only do strength training."

Marco Reus: "That was a good test, my first full 90 minutes. We made a bright start. Our passing game was on point. We were lacking a bit of momentum going forward, which is normal for this stage of pre-season. We got our goals, that was all good. The Super Cup carries a great significance for all of us. It's a title up for grabs, it's important to make a good start to the season and to show our fans that we're out to achieve something. But it's equally clear that neither we nor Bayern are at 100 percent. We're working better and better in training; you could see that in the first game today too. The very young players are making a really good impression as well. It's not easy to be playing at this level at such a young age."

Marwin Hitz: "We made a bright start and had some good attacks from the beginning. But there were also spells in which we dropped off and lost possession a lot, which we cannot allow to happen. During that spell, we conceded one or two opportunities. Perhaps that's in part attributable to tiredness; we've trained a lot. All in all, you could see that we're capable of playing good football but we aren't yet showing the concentration that is required. That'll come if we work on our freshness. The Super Cup is a match with lots of potential. That's when it really starts for us." (br)
