The Borussia Dortmund U19s are in fine form at the moment. On Saturday morning – four days before their second UEFA Youth League match away to Slavia Prague – coach Michael Skibbe's charges beat RW Oberhausen in front of 500 spectators at Stadion Niederrhein thanks to a last-minute winner.

Having seen the Black & Yellows dismantle Bayer Leverkusen at home a week earlier, the Clover Leaves knew their defence would be facing a tough test and they adopted a correspondingly cautious approach at the outset, allowing their visitors to have possession. But there were barely 20 minutes gone when BVB had the ball in the Oberhausen goal for the first time. Striker Youssofa Moukoko received the ball at chest height just outside the box and he let it drop before swivelling towards goal and striking home a powerful left-footed volley to make it 1-0!

BVB had the match under control but were pegged back on the half-hour mark as their hosts netted a surprising equaliser, with Erick Surmanski beating Schönnenbeck in the BVB goal. But despite conceding, the Black & Yellows would not be knocked out of their stride and they re-established their lead before the interval when a penalty was awarded for a clear foul on Giovanni Reyna. Captain Alaa Bakir comfortably slotted home the spot-kick to make it 2-1.

RWO had more of the game after the break and often had BVB camped deep in their own half – but it was a set-piece that ultimately drew them level, with Overfeld capitalising on the confusion in the box to make it 2-2. Both teams dropped down a gear until the closing stages in a bid to conserve their energy but then pushed for a winner as the match drew to an end. It was BVB who ultimately succeeded, with substitute Rauch playing a low ball into the middle towards Moukoko who was presented with a simple tap-in. The striker now has 15 goals in his seven league games this season – more than any other player in the division.

The three points in Oberhausen keep the Black & Yellows in pursuit of the teams above them in the table. Skibbe's charges currently occupy fourth place with seven games played.
