Tuesday night will see league leaders RB Leipzig come to Dortmund to face BVB at Signal Iduna Park (kick-off 20.30 CET) in what promises to be a real Christmas cracker of a match-up. ''We're up against an extremely dangerous side. They're looking very strong at the moment and have won a lot of matches recently,'' said BVB Sporting Director Michael Zorc in the pre-match press conference before Matchday 16 of the Bundesliga.

Borussia also go into the match with the wind in their sails after picking up a fourth win on the bounce against Mainz at the weekend. This impressive run of form has seen BVB draw themselves within reach of the top of the table in third place. The home side's confidence will no doubt be boosted by their impressive record at Signal Iduna Park. ''We've yet to lose at home this season, and we see no reason why this run shouldn't continue,'' said Zorc, who is hoping for a boisterous support against the in-form visitors from Saxony: ''It helps us so much when we have the Yellow Wall behind us, especially if we're attacking the South Stand goal in the second half. It really adds a special something.''

BVB Head Coach Lucien Favre sounded a note of caution regarding the menace posed by Tuesday night's opponents on the counter-attack: ''Leipzig are very dangerous when they win the ball back. They hit you on the counter at break-neck speed by moving the ball quickly and making direct runs into space.'' Favre remained non-committal when asked whether or not he would stick with the three-at-the-back formation which has brought his side such success of late: ''The new system has worked wonders for us so far. But Leipzig certainly have a lot of potency going forward.''

With the exception of long-term absentees Thomas Delaney, Axel Witsel and Marcel Schmelzer, Favre has a full complement of players from which to select a formation of his choosing. The stage is set for BVB to pull closer to this impressive Leipzig side at the top of the table.
