With three weeks to go before their respective Bundesliga campaigns kick off, Borussia Dortmund's junior teams have been beaten in friendlies.

Despite a good first half and taking a 1-0 lead, the U19s were beaten 3-1 by Mainz 05. Youssoufa Moukoko scored the opener, but Mike Tullberg's team lost their rhythm after conceding an equaliser at the start of the second period. They will be in friendly action again on Wednesday, when they take on TSG Sprockhövel in Hattingen.

Elsewhere, the U17s were unlucky to lose 4-2 to a strong VfB Stuttgart side. Ayukayoh Mengot made it 1-0 and after Stuttgart equalised, Faroukou Cisse crowned a strong individual display with a goal to make it 2-1. The visitors then came from behind courtesy of a controversial penalty and two individual errors.  (wiwi)
