Following the draw on Thursday evening, this Friday UEFA have scheduled the matches in the group stage of the Champions League. BVB, who will face Russian champions Zenit St. Petersburg, Belgian title winners Club Bruges and Italian representatives Lazio in Group F, will start with an away match in Rome on 20 October (full schedule), followed by a first home match against Zenit on 28 October (21:00 CET).

It has not yet been decided how many spectators Borussia Dortmund will be able to plan to host for these matches; the criteria for distribution have also yet to be defined in cooperation with UEFA and the local authorities. Initially, it is expected that interested season ticket holders and members will be able to register for tickets via the established application process from the middle of next week. However, as in the Bundesliga, the current arrangement only applies to those who have their first registered residence in Dortmund or North Rhine-Westphalia. Any tickets come with the proviso that short-term restrictions may be imposed, for example as a result of the seven-day Coronavirus incidences in the place of residence of the ticket holder. A so-called ''hard personalisation'' applies to all tickets.

Just as in the Bundesliga, there will be no tickets for away fans in the UEFA Champions League until further notice.
