Borussia Dortmund will be allowed to welcome 25,000 fans to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK for the season opener against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (18:30 CET). 24,000 will be allowed to attend with proof of vaccination or immunity, while the remaining 1,000 will have negative Coronavirus tests.

The German cup winners announced at the end of July that those who have been vaccinated or have recently recovered from the virus would be at an advantage when applying for tickets.

At the club's annual results press briefing on Monday, Borussia Dortmund's chief executive officer Hans-Joachim Watzke called for all BVB fans to get vaccinated. ''Vaccination,'' said Watzke ''is the only solution for a return to normality.'' He also indicated that the presence of spectators who have been vaccinated or recovered from the virus would ''create an even greater sense of security in the stadium.''
