After the narrow 2-1 loss to Türkgücü in Munich's Olympiastadion last weekend, the U23s have their next chance to pick up three points in the 3. Liga on Sunday (kick-off 13:00 CET). The visitors at the Rote Erde are Würzburger Kickers, currently placed 19th in the table.

The team led by head coach Torsten Ziegner have yet to really find their feet in the 3. Liga since dropping down from the Bundesliga 2. Their first win came on Matchday 9 two weeks ago - against none other than league leaders Magdeburg. The team from Würzburg lost their most recent game 4-0 against Wehen Wiesbaden. Relegation last season brought about large-scale personnel changes. Lots of youngsters, but also a few experienced players, have moved to the club. No fewer than three former BVB U23 players - Hendrik Bonmann, Lars Dietz and David Kopacz - are in the Kickers' squad.

BVB coach Enrico Maaßen can call on more or less the same personnel as last weekend. Marco Hober, Marco Pasalic, Steffen Tigges, Moritz Broschinski and Florian Krebs remain unavailable due to injury. A win will see the Black & Yellows, currently placed third after ten matchdays, establish themselves in the upper reaches of the league table.

The U23s' match on Sunday is the first game of a double header at the Rote Erde: the BVB women's team will take on Teutonia Lanstrop at 16:30. Information on tickets can be accessed here.
