Borussia Dortmund's U23s will travel away to face other newly promoted side Viktoria Berlin this coming Saturday on the 14th matchday of the third division. Kick-off at the tradition-steeped Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark is at 14:00 CET.

The side from the capital are playing their first season in the third division, after promotion was promptly nailed-on. The Regionalliga Nord-Ost was cancelled after 11 matchdays and Viktoria Berlin were named as a promoted team. Viktoria won all 11 games, scoring a solid 26 goals and leaving clubs like Chemie Leipzig and Carl Zeiss Jena well behind. Because of this, planning for their upcoming season in the third division could begin early. Coach Benedetto Muzzicato put together a young, yet experienced team. Goalkeeper Julian Krahl came from 1. FC Köln's academy, the seasoned central defender Alexander Hahn from RW Essen, and attacking player Soufian Benyamina from VfB Lübeck, just to name a few names. With experience in the Bundesliga and the second division, midfielder Tolcay Cigerci also has an eye for goal. In 11 games, the 26-year-old scored six and set up another five. However, the former Turkish youth international is currently suffering from an adductor injury.

After the unfortunate defeat against Viktoria Köln, BVB coach Enrico Maaßen said: "We had a few goal-scoring opportunities, which we should have scored 100 percent. You have to score goals. If you don't score goals, you lose games like that. It's annoying for us, but we want to do better against Berlin." Striker Moritz Broschinski, who returned to the squad against Köln after a long period out of action, can finally help again in that respect. Marco Hober and Florian Krebs are also fit again and are available to the coach for the game against Berlin.
