Without a handful of regulars, supported by four players from the first team squad, Borussia Dortmund's Under 23 team set off on Thursday morning for the tranquil village of Wissel, around 30 kilometres south of Zwolle. But the game ended 0-1 from BVB's point of view after 90 minutes in the test match against Dutch first division team SC Cambuur.

First team squad members Reinier, Felix Passlack, Steffen Tigges and Soumaila Coulibaly accompanied the young Black & Yellow players to the Netherlands and bolstered Enrico Maassen's squad. Franz Pfanne, Berkan Taz, Richmond Tachie, Tobi Raschl, Christian Viet and Ole Pohlmann were all given a break and did not travel with the team due to their heavy match load in recent weeks.

The game developed into a decent game between two evenly-matched sides, in which the hosts scored the opening goal with their very first attack of the game. Overall, both sides did a lot of running and were aggressive in their pressing behaviour. For the Black and Yellows, there were two close offside positions in the first half, which could have resulted in promising chances. Under the watchful eyes of Marco Rose, René Maric and Alexander Zickler, BVB were more dominant in the second half than the Dutch first division side. Despite several good chances to score, the ball unfortunately did not find its way into the net, so that in the end it remained a narrow defeat.

"We had a hard time getting into the game because the opponent pressed high and played "filthy". After that, we won the ball well and had many opportunities to score. Today we lacked a sense of achievement, but we still took a lot of positive things with us, for example the good movement towards the goal. It was important to keep our rhythm and learn something against a good opponent," said BVB goalkeeper Stefan Drljaca, summing up the match.

Next Saturday, the Under 23s will play an away game against Halleschen FC in the 3rd Division. Kick-off is at 1400 CET.

BVB: Drljaca - Maloney (85. Bafounta), Dams, Coulibaly (60. Thaqi) - Passlack (60. Bah-Traore), Hober (45. Pherai), Papadopoulos (85. Amedick), Makreckis (45. Bueno) - Tattermusch (45. Bornemann), Tigges, Reinier (70. Krebs)
