The first title of the season is in the bag: Borussia Dortmund's U19s have won the first-ever NRW-Liga-Pokal courtesy of a 2-0 away victory over FC Schalke 04 in the final.

In front of over 500 spectators at the Parkstadion, a BVB side without their internationals Nnamdi Collins, Samuel Bamba, Dennis Lütke-Frie, Göktan Gürpüz and Bradley Fink produced a very strong performance – especially in the first half. Julian Rijkhoff scored twice – in the 10th and 45th minutes – to seal the victory.

In the second half, Mike Tullberg's charges then showed passion and intelligence to defend their lead. "I have to compliment all the players for this performance," said Mike Tullberg, who was pleased with the second derby win of the season. Borussia won the Bundesliga fixture 4-0 four weeks ago.

BVB will now head to Lisbon, where they will take on Sporting CP in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday. (wiwi)
