An overwhelmingly dominant BVB had to settle for a draw in the end. Borussia Dortmund had more possession (62%), had 19 shots more than their opponents (23-4), were clearly ahead in terms of "expected goals" (2.83-1.02) and won 15 corners (Bochum didn't have any). But VfL held firm and won 55% of the challenges. Here are the match facts.

First stalemate: The Black & Yellows drew for the first time this season on Matchday 15. That means that all Bundesliga clubs have now drawn at least one game. It was BVB's first draw since March (2-2 in Cologne).

Dangerous in front of goal: Julian Brandt scored his fourth goal of the season with his first shot at goal. That means the 25-year-old has already scored more often than in his first two Bundesliga seasons at BVB. He scored three times in both 2019/20 and 2020/21.

Super sub curse: It was the seventh goal Bochum have conceded to a substitute this season; that's a league high.

Unbeaten against Bochum: Alexander Zickler sat on the bench as the official BVB coach in place of the suspended Marco Rose. The 47-year-old former striker remained unbeaten against VfL Bochum in his playing career (six wins, four draws).

More experience: Borussia's starting XI clearly had their noses in front in terms of Bundesliga matches played (1426) and Bundesliga goals scored (259) compared to Bochum (407 games, 36 goals). Erling Haaland (51 goals) has scored more than all VfL players combined.

Few VfL shots: Bochum had only four shots at goal; the fewest they have registered in any game this season.
